The Colosseum

I have never been to the Colosseum, which is probably why I wanted to draw it so badly. Hopefully I’ll be lucky enough to go there one day, but for now all I have is this drawing hanging up in my bedroom :p. It took roughly 40+ hours to draw, but it was definitely worth it!

The Colosseum (also spelt Coliseum) is one of the largest Amphitheatres in the world located in Rome, Italy.

What I find most interesting are the 3 different types of columns. Each level of the Colosseum has a different column starting with  Doric – Ground level, Ionic – First level and Corinthian – Second level. As the levels go up, the amount of decoration in the columns increase.

Below are some progression shots of my drawing

Hope this was interesting!…Now for the next project;)
