Bayon Temple

Bayon Temple is one of the most well-known temples in the ancient city of Angkor Thom, Cambodia. Angkor Thom was the last capital city of the Khmer empire! Bayon temple was built around the end of the late 12th century CE.

One of the reasons I was drawn to this temple was firstly the fact that Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was filmed in Cambodia at this location (okay, that was the only reason 😉 ) But I do love good stonework and this design really stood out to me. Also it was a good excuse for me to test out my new rotring nib 0.1 seeing as I seem to always break them…r.i.p.

I’m pretty happy with the way this illustration turned out as I combined different techniques and layered them, hopefully I’ll carry on with this style for a bit longer.

What is your favourite temple?
