On The Way Up

Over the summer I ventured out to Southeast Asia. I backpacked through Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand with one of my oldest and dearest friends and was captivated by all my surroundings. I loved everything about it. The culture. The food. The atmosphere and most importantly, the people. It reminded me of my family in Indonesia, my nostalgia for the past and oh how I missed it all. I just love Asia.

Of course, being me, I couldn’t help but document my way through Asia in the form of illustrations. I’ll probably post more drawings. But in the meantime, this is an illustration  I drew on the way up ‘Lying Dragon Mountain’ in Ninh Binh, Vietnam. The view was incredible. From the top is a statue of a lying dragon (hence the name) and from all around you can see miles and miles of paddy fields broken up by limestone mountains shrouded in trees.
